Executive Position Descriptions

Artistic Team

Choreographer (7+ positions available)

  • Manages and creates their own original scene, creatively putting together choreography, music, lighting, and stage design
  • Teaches choreography to models for the Annual Charity Fashion Show
  • Works with Artistic Director to make sure deadlines are met
  • Attends regular meetings and acts to inspire and motivate FC models and members in aspects of FC outside of the Fashion Show
  • Dance experience recommended

Fashion/Jewelry Designers (2+ positions available)

  • Designs and creates creative and original pieces for their own scene, creatively putting together catwalk choreography, music, lighting, and stage design
  • Works with Artistic Director to make sure deadlines are met
  • Attends regular meetings and acts to inspire and motivate FC models and members within other aspects of FC

Events Team

Events Manager (6-8 positions available)

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute monthly non-fashion show events to raise awareness
 and funds
  • Correspond with FEDS officers on a regular basis to ensure event compliance
  • Work with the Events Sponsorship Coordinators to determine sponsorship items required for the success of the event
  • Assets: good organizational, communication and leadership skills
  • Event planning experience is not required, but recommended

Finance Team

Corporate Engagement Manager (3-5 positions available)

  • Approach potential businesses and private donors for making large donations ($200+) through meetings, telephone calls and/or emails
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with corporations
  • Have a basic understanding of accounting and financial management
  • Attend weekly meetings as well as coordinate with other executive members and Directors for major ticket sales for FC events
  • Important personality traits are: personable, professional, assertive, organized

Marketing Team

Head Photographer Role (1 position)

Main Role of the head is to inspire and manage the photography team. This is a pretty important position. We will be accepting one head who has substantial experience in photography and who is committed to lead a team.

Has-to-Have:

  • Owns and Knows how to use DSLR camera.
  • Experienced with Event coverage and studio shooting.
  • Experience with specialized photographic equipment
  • Knowledge of post processing software (Lightroom etc)

Role Description:

  • Mentor to photographers
    • Provides assistance (i.e. how to use equipment, tutorials with lightroom etc.)
  • Organizes which photographers go on which shoots
    • Keeping in mind their preference strengths
  • Provides guidance with creative vision
  • Proofs Photography
    • Provides feedback to photographers
  • Manages tasks
    • Time-management skills
    • Dedicate at least 6hrs per week to photographic work for FC
  • Has experience/knowledge of how to be a leader

Photographers (12 positions)

We will be selecting a variety of photographers. Please indicate what tier level you would categorize yourself into. Consider your experience as well as how great of a photographer you think you are at this point in your craft. (We just want to get a rough estimate of the types of photographers applying.)

Has-to-Have:

  • Owns and Knows how to use DSLR camera.
    • Basic knowledge of photography components (ISO, shutter speed, aperture)
  • Some Knowledge of post processing software (Lightroom etc)

Role Description:

Head Graphic Design Role (1 position)

Main Role of the head is to inspire and manage the graphics team. This is a pretty important position. We will be accepting one head who has substantial experience in Graphic Design and who is committed to lead a team.

  • Owns and Knows various compositing programs (ie Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, InDesign, After Effects)
  • Experience Designing promotional material. (*Portfolio requirement*)
  • Experience/proven skill of Team management

Role Description:

Consider your experience as well as how great of a designer you think you are at this point in your craft. (We just want to get a rough estimate of the types of designers applying.)

  • Owns and Knows various compositing programs (ie Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, InDesign, After Effects)

Main Role of the head is to inspire and manage the videography team. This is a pretty important position. We will be accepting one head who has substantial experience in filmmaking and video event capture. And who is committed to lead a team.

Has-to-Have:

  • Owns and Knows various editing and compositing programs (ie Premier Pro, Final Cut, After Effects)
  • Experience shooting Video coverage for events. (*Portfolio requirement*)
  • Experience directing/shooting/storyboarding/Storytelling in films/short videos.
  • Experience/proven skill of Team management

Role Description:

  • Mentor to Videography Team
    • Provides assistance (i.e. how to use software, pre-production prep phase etc.)
    • Knowledge of where to get equipment

Videographer (3)

We are looking for people who really understand video for these roles. People who have been filming for a while, know how to use the equipment and can tell a story. We will allow the videographers to play every role in the video team. Everyone will get a chance to be the Camera operator, editor, and pre production/equipment person. You should be comfortable in any of these roles

Has-to-Have:

  • Experience shooting Video coverage for events or creating videos. (*Portfolio requirement*)

Motion Graphics Lead (1)

Motion Graphics are a big part of our videos. Throughout the year, we will need special motion graphics created for social media and for the show. The Show’s motion graphics will be a yearlong project that we will work towards, so this role is not for the faint hearted. We’re looking for someone who can create stunning motion designs that make our eyes to water.

Has-to-Have:

  • Owns and Knows various editing and compositing programs (ie Premier Pro, Final Cut, After Effects)
  • Experience compositing and developing motion graphics

  • Maintain professional contact between Fashion For Change and other clubs within University community
  • Manage and coordinate poster runs within campus

External Public Relations Managers (2-3 positions available)

  • Approach social outlets to create and reaffirm partnerships with Fashion For Change
    outside the University of Waterloo (radio stations, TV stations, local stores, etc.)
  • Represent the club in a professional, confident and outgoing manner
  • Ensure ample publicity for Fashion For Change within greater community
  • May be required to work with other committees (i.e. events, sponsorship,) which are also involved in off-campus partnerships

Social Media Outreach Coordinator (2 positions available)

  • Manage the club’s social media accounts (Instagram, Twitter, etc) to promote and improve FC’s online presence
  • Maintain a fun, yet professional online presence at all times
  • Create content that is engaging and relevant through social media or blog posts
  • Experience and advanced knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, HTML, Hootsuite, etc. is an asset

Sponsorship Team

Sponsorship Managers (12 positions available)

  • Maintain communication with sponsors throughout the year to foster a lasting partnership
  • Manage clothing fittings with both the sponsor and Fashion for Change models
  • Displays exceptional interpersonal skills and professionalism in a business setting
  • Works in a diligent and efficient manner, whether on their own or in a team setting
  • Initiate and manage partnerships with various businesses to acquire creative sponsorship opportunities (e.g. food, gifts, prizes) for use at Fashion for Change
 events
  • Assist the Events Team with planning the sponsorship aspect of events, as well as their execution and wrap up
  • Effective communication skills required to develop and maintain a professional
 relationship with businesses
  • Collaborate with the Finance Team when approaching large corporations for
 sponsorship opportunities.

Stage Team

Stage Manager (8 positions available)

  • Are responsible for managing the technical/physical aspects of the show: set, props, lighting equipment, etc
  • Will create a detailed plan of all set, props, lighting, cues for each scene that coordinates with the vision of the scene
  • Experience with theater and lighting is an asset but not required
